Wildfires have been ravishing the California Sierra’s and with that, smoke has billowed into the Lake Tahoe Basin making conditions very undesirable. The skies have been gray and the sun has been an odd color of orange; almost like something out of a movie. Although the air has been of terrible quality, it has been producing some of the most unique and interesting sunsets I’ve ever seen. On August 22, I was driving home and notice a red glow in the sky. I was caught off guard when I realized that it was the moon. The smoke in the atmosphere filtered the normal white glow of the moon into blood red. So much for our “Blue Moon” this month.
The sky began to glow, creating a ceiling of orange and purple above us. It was almost too much for my two eyes to take in, but they did their best. Mother nature always gifts us with the most precious beauty.
